Semester Grade Calculator

Calculate your semester grade from your term grades and their weights — enter each grade and weight (quarters, midterm, final) to get the overall percentage and letter grade.

How to calculate your semester grade

Your semester grade combines your term grades by how much each one counts. Multiply every term grade by its weight, add them, and divide by the total weight. Enter each grade and its weight above — for example two quarters and a final — and the calculator returns the semester percentage and letter grade.

semester grade = Σ(term grade × weight) ÷ Σ(weight)

A common setup is two quarters worth 40% each and a final worth 20%. With 88%, 91% and 85% that is (88×40 + 91×40 + 85×20) ÷ 100 = 88.6% (B). Adjust the weights to match your syllabus — they don’t have to total exactly 100.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate your semester grade?

Multiply each term grade by its weight, add them, and divide by the total weight. A common setup is two quarters at 40% each and a final at 20%: with 88%, 91% and 85% that is (88×40 + 91×40 + 85×20) ÷ 100 = 88.6%.

How do you average quarter grades with a final exam?

Give each quarter and the final a weight that adds up to 100%, then take the weighted average. If your two quarters are worth 40% each and the final 20%, enter those weights next to each grade and the calculator combines them.

What letter grade is my semester percentage?

On the common US scale: 90%+ is an A, 80–89% a B, 70–79% a C, 60–69% a D, and below 60% an F. The calculator shows the letter beside your weighted semester percentage; check your school for exact cutoffs.
