Temperature Converter
Convert temperatures between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin instantly — enter a value and pick the units to convert in any direction.
Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin
Enter a value and pick the units to convert in any direction. Unlike length or weight, temperature scales don’t share a zero point, so the conversions use formulas rather than a simple factor: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32, °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9, and Kelvin adds 273.15 to Celsius (0 K is absolute zero).
Reference points
Water freezes at 0 °C / 32 °F / 273.15 K and boils at 100 °C / 212 °F / 373.15 K; normal body temperature is about 37 °C / 98.6 °F. The converter handles any value both ways. Need other units? Try the length converter or the weight converter.
Frequently asked questions
How do you convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply the Celsius value by 9/5 and add 32: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. So 100 °C is 212 °F (boiling water) and 37 °C is 98.6 °F (body temperature). The converter does this instantly, and the reverse too.
How do you convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. For example, 68 °F is 20 °C. Pick Fahrenheit and Celsius above and enter any value.
What is Kelvin?
Kelvin is the SI temperature scale starting at absolute zero (0 K = −273.15 °C). To convert, add 273.15 to a Celsius value to get Kelvin. Water freezes at 273.15 K and boils at 373.15 K. The converter includes Kelvin alongside Celsius and Fahrenheit.
