How to cite in Chicago style

The Chicago Manual of Style has two systems; this generator uses the author-date system common in the sciences and social sciences. The first author is inverted (Last, First), later authors are written normally, and the year follows the author list.

Journal: Last, First, and First Last. Year. “Article Title.” Journal Volume (Issue): Pages.

For example: Smith, John A., and Robert B. Doe. 2020. “Effects of sunlight on mood.” Journal of Wellbeing 12 (3): 45-52. Switch the source type for a website or book. The same format also works for Turabian author-date papers.

Other styles: AMA, IEEE, ACS, Turabian, CSE.
